English Lessons and Workshops

At Action in English we use experienced teachers who implement tried and tested methods to create engaging, enjoyable lessons. Whether students are in class, participating in sporting activities or on cultural excursions they are encouraged to communicate in English.
A maximum of 15 students are placed in each class which are based according to students’ ability. We use a variety of task-types, games and topics that motivate and engage children to improve their learning in all four skills areas; reading, writing, listening and speaking.
Elementary classes use a range of songs, games, arts and crafts, according to the individual students’ interest, to make lessons fun and enjoyable and promote learning.
Intermediate and Advanced classes use cultural differences between the students as a basis for discussion, debate and writing. Students are also encouraged to form opinions on topics such as the environment, sport, current affairs, food, health and art. We use authentic materials to motivate students’ interest in these topics, which provide a context for their discussion. These materials range from Newspaper articles, radio and tv programmes to websites. Students are motivated to explore different methods of learning and discover which suits them best.
We subscribe to a modern communicative approach of teaching English, which emphasises learning English via group and paired tasks/activities. This ensures that lessons are student-centred and that students have lots of opportunity to practise speaking (building confidence), even when learning grammar points, or a written genre.
